Men's Soccer to Host Canisius in Regular Season Finale

With a Win, the Red Foxes Earn the Right to Host a MAAC Playoff Game

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist men's soccer (8-8, 5-4 MAAC) is set to close the regular season against Canisius (2-14, 1-8 MAAC) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. With a win, the Red Foxes will secure the fourth seed in the MAAC playoffs and host the quarterfinal round.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist suffered a loss to MAAC #2 Iona by a score of 2-1.
  • Despite going down a man on the field, the Red Foxes scored in the 59th minute courtesy of Allen Gavilanes.
  • Joao Avila picked up the assist, while reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Week Samuel Ilin made two saves in the goal.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
  • Canisius picked up their most recent win over Niagara on October 9, but have lost six straight since then.
  • Troy Brady leads the team in points with 12, having recorded five goals and two assists.
  • Tom Crosbie and Fabio D'Errico have split time in the net, with the latter playing the latest game against Monmouth. D'Errico has a save percentage of 68.4 with 54 stops.
HISTORY VS. CANISIUS
  • The Red Foxes are 11-6-2 all-time against the Golden Griffins.
  • The teams most recently tied 1-1 in Buffalo in 2018.
  • Beau Hornberger scored Marist's goal in the 89th minute off of a corner kick from Gavilanes.
