Volleyball Looks for Third Straight Win Against Fairfield

The Red Foxes Look to Put an End to the Stags’ Undefeated Record in MAAC Play

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut - The Marist volleyball team heads to Connecticut for the second match of its current four-match road swing, as the Red Foxes prepare to take on the Fairfield Stags on Wednesday night. The Stags are currently the leaders in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, coming into Wednesday's match with an undefeated record of 13-0, and an outstanding 18-4 record overall. The battle begins at 7 p.m.

  • With 19 more kills on Wednesday, Megan Fergus will move into sole possession of fourth place on Marist's all-time kills list.
  • Fergus is now just 11 total blocks away from taking over seventh place on the all-time total blocks list.
  • Stephanie Stone is 24 total blocks away from moving up a spot on the total blocks list.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes beat the Siena Saints 3-0 in their last match on Friday, November 1.
  • Fergus led Marist with a match-high 14 kills, while Nkki DeSerpa joined her in double-digit kills with 10.
  • Mckinley Fox tallied 37 assists against the Saints, and Sophia Theriot totaled 15 digs, both match-highs.
  • The Red Fox defense did not let up more than 17 points in any of the three sets, en route to a dominant sweep.
 
LAST TIME VS FAIRFIELD
  • Marist last played Fairfield on Friday, September 20. In what was both the MAAC and home opener for the Red Foxes, they were swept by the Stags.
  • DeSerpa led the match with 12 kills while Gabby Murray recorded 10.
  • Halle Carter led the game in assists, recording 38. Manuela Nicolini led the way for the Stags with 24 assists.
  • Sophia Theriot led the match with 15 digs while Mayda Garcia of Fairfield was close behind her with 13 digs.
 
SCOUTING FAIRFIELD
  • Fairfield comes into this match with an overall record of 18-4, and 13-0 in the MAAC
  • The Stags beat Manhattan 3-0 in their previous match on the road.
  • Fairfield comes into this matchup with the Red Foxes on a 16-game winning streak.
  • The Stags have not lost a game since September 7.
  • Joelle Battles leads the Stags with 222 kills on the season.
  • Kaylie Butts is fresh off being named MAAC Player of the Week. She hit an electric .653 for the Stags in two MAAC wins this past week, totaling 33 kills with only one error on 49 swings as Fairfield dispatched Siena and Manhattan. 
  • Morgan Doll leads the team with 287 digs on the year.
 
UP NEXT
The Red Foxes will return to action this weekend for their two-game Buffalo trip. Marist will take on Niagara on Saturday at noon, and then play Canisius on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Red Foxes are currently tied with both Niagara and Canisius in the MAAC standings, so it will be a big weekend to say the least.
