Jordan Jones Leads Marist With Season-High 14 Points

DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – The Marist men's basketball team was defeated at Bethune-Cookman by a score of 85-56 on Saturday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium.

Summary
  • Bethune-Cookman scored the game's first five points, and led 18-9 midway through the first half.
  • However, freshman guard Tyler Saint-Furcy buried a three-pointer, then dunked on the next possession and hit the and-one foul shot to trim the deficit.
  • Sophomore point guard Darius Hines fed junior forward Zion Tordoff for a layup to make it 21-17 Wildcats with 9:12 until halftime.
  • Marist got to within two on three separate occasions later in the frame, once on a Tordoff bucket, a driving score from red-shirt junior guard Michael Cubbage, and a Saint-Furcy layup. The latter made it 25-23 Bethune-Cookman at the 5:42 mark, but Leon Redd nailed two triples to extend the lead to eight for the Wildcats. This forced a Marist timeout at the 4:14 mark.
  • Marist never got closer than eight the rest of the way, and Bethune-Cookman took a 40-27 lead into the break.
