POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's lacrosse team will face off against the University of North Carolina on Friday, March 8
th at 7 PM.

Marist defeated Stony Brook 10-5 in a big road victory last weekend on Saturday March 2
nd. They were tied 3-3 at the half but the Red Foxes outscored Stony Brook 7-2 in the second half to secure the 10-5 win. The win versus Stony Brook gets the Red Foxes to 2-2 on the season.

Freshman attacker
Jojo Pirreca was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week. Pirreca came up big in Marist's wins, tallying seven points on the week. Junior face-off specialist
Peyton Smith was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week and was also named to the USILA Team of the week. Smith had a monster week, winning 41-of-49 face-offs on the week.

UNC is currently 3-2 overall and on a two-game losing streak after dropping back-to-back home games to ranked opponents in 18
th John Hopkins and 8
th Denver. Junior Midfielder William Perry, who is the leading scorer for the Tar Heels, scored four goals in the loss to Denver, tying his career high.

- This is the second meeting between the two teams with Marist falling 12-3 back in 2008.
- Freshman James Lyons and Jojo Pirreca both scored hat tricks in the victory over Stony Brook.
- UNC's scoring offense ranks eighth in the nation with 14 goals per game.
