POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's tennis team will participate in the Yale Invitational over the weekend. The teams the Red Foxes are scheduled to face include Fairfield, Yale, and NJIT.

The Red Foxes open the weekend with a game against the Fairfield Stags on Saturday, March 9 in what will be considered a non-conference match. Then at 3 p.m., Marist will take on Yale University. Marist rounds out the weekend with a game against the New Jersey Institute of Technology on Sunday, March 10. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The Red Foxes lost 5-2 to Lehigh University on Saturday, February 23. Marist excelled in doubles play, securing wins in both the second and third positions, behind strong play from

John Oxner, and
Lars Schouten/
Max Darrington. However, the Red Foxes could not finish strong in the singles matches, losing the final five positions.

The Stags are 3-6 overall this season and have yet to play a neutral site game. Fairfield is riding a two-game losing streak into this game. Last time out, they were shutout by Army West Point 4-0, in a match on Sunday, March 3. They fared well in doubles, but could not win one singles match to keep them in the game.

The Bulldogs are currently 4-4 this season, and are 1-0 at home. Last time out, Yale was defeated 4-0 by Old Dominion on Sunday, February 24. The Bulldogs were competitive in doubles play, put did not win a single match in the singles rounds, and ended up getting swept, 4-0.

The Highlanders are 2-7 so far on the year, and have yet to play a match on a neutral site. They have lost their last five matches heading into the matchup with the Red Foxes on Sunday. Last time out, NJIT was shutout 7-0 by the Princeton Tigers on Sunday, March 3. The Highlanders were able to take three of the six singles matched to third set super breakers, but were unable to pull out a single victory.

The Red Foxes continue their road trip, traveling to Virginia for a non-conference match against Radford on Friday, March 15. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
