POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. — The Marist University Athletics Department has announced Andrew Sendek as the new Director of Tennis. Sendek brings extensive collegiate coaching experience to the Red Foxes, highlighted by recent conference-level success and multiple individual honors.

"Andrew brings a combination of tennis expertise, leadership, and a genuine commitment to the development of student-athletes," Senior Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Welfare Elizabeth Donahue said. "We are excited to welcome Andrew to Marist and look forward to the energy, experience, and vision he will bring to our tennis programs. His passion for the sport and his ability to build strong relationships will be assets as we continue to elevate Marist Tennis both on and off the court."

Sendek joins Marist after serving as the head men's and women's tennis coach at the University of Mount Olive during the 2025-26 season. In his first season at Mount Olive, Sendek led the men's program to an 11-0 record in Conference Carolina play, marking the program's first undefeated conference season since 2015. The Trojans finished as the Conference Carolina tournament runner-up, while Sendek was named the conference's Men's Coach of the Year.

Under Sendek's guidance, Mount Olive also produced the 2026 Conference Carolina Men's Freshman of the Year and six All-Conference selections. The men's team earned four selections, including two first-team, one second-team and one third-team honoree, while the women's team had two second-team selections.

Prior to Mount Olive, Sendek spent the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach at Northwood University. He helped lead the women's team to a second-place finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) and a No. 7 ranking in the NCAA Midwest Regional Rankings. Northwood participated in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, while its women's team opened the 2025 season with a 13-1 record.

Sendek also helped develop five All-GMAC selections at Northwood, including two first-team and three second-team honorees. The Northwood men's team defeated No. 25 Ferris State during the 2025 season, while both the men's and women's programs earned NCAA Division II rankings.

Before his time at Northwood, Sendek served as the head men's and women's tennis coach at Saginaw Valley State University during the 2023-24 season.

Sendek began his collegiate tennis coaching career at Georgia Southwestern State University, where he served as head tennis coach and assistant compliance director from 2022-23.

A collegiate tennis player at Wilmington College and West Virginia University, Sendek played No. 1 singles at Wilmington. He was a four-year varsity tennis player in high school, ranking as high as No. 3 and No. 4 in regional tournaments and among the top 150 players in the USTA Midwest Region. He also represented the United States in international competition.

Sendek earned a Master of Business in Sport Management from Lincoln Memorial University in 2024 and a Master of Science in Sport Coaching from West Virginia University in 2019. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Coaching Education from West Virginia in 2017, with minors in Sport Exercise Psychology and Sport Communication.
