Men's Tennis to Play Last Non-Conference Match

The Red Foxes Travel to UConn

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's tennis team will play a non-conference match against the University of Connecticut on Saturday, April 6. This is the second game of a three-game road trip for the Red Foxes. The match is set to begin at noon.
Marist is 7-8 overall on the season, and looks to improve its record back to .500 on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Foxes were swept 7-0 by Army on Tuesday, April 2. Marist battled very hard, resulting in close scores in just about every set. However, they were unable to secure the big points necessary to pick up any points. Kian Yazdi was involved in a very competitive singles match, sending his singles matchup into a tie-breaker set with a 6-3 victory in set two. However, he ultimately fell in the tiebreaker 10-5.

SCOUTING UCONN
The Huskies are 7-13 overall heading into the match against Marist. Since winning two consecutive matches on February 16 and 17, Connecticut has lost eight consecutive matches, and has been shutout four times. However, the Huskies have been pretty successful in home matches, going 6-4 in matches played at the East Hartford Tennis Club. Hank Hill/Yili Zheng is the leading doubles team for Connecticut, going 19-18 overall this season. Brady Flanagan has an impressive 10-5 record in singles, while J. Michael Holtmann leads the team in singles wins with 18.

UP NEXT
The Red Foxes begin a stretch of four consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matches to close out the season, with the first coming on Tuesday, April 9 against Fairfield University. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
