Freshman
Niko Amory had his best game of the season at Army on April 24, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs. He sparked a seven-run inning in which Marist batted around, and he tallied a homer and a two-run double.
"Adjusting to college baseball is full of ups and downs," stated Amory. "The biggest adjustment for me has been facing good pitching every game. I haven't played as well as I would like to, but I am getting closer and feeling more comfortable every week. Hopefully, the more time and reps that I have, the more I will improve."
The rookie has contributed on offense with 19 hits and 14 RBIs this season, but has also expanded his role from catching to participating in the infield as well.
"My teammates and coaches have helped a lot," said Amory. "The coaches have talked a lot about the mental side of the game with me and are guiding me in making the adjustments to my game where it's needed."
- Saint Peter's is coming off of an 8-6 win over Lehigh, and have won two of their last four.
- Peter Ferony leads the team with an average of .307, having tallied 47 hits and 27 RBIs.
- Steve Epstein leads the pitching staff with an ERA of 4.43 over 42.2 innings. He has struck out 28 batters.
"We have started to play some better baseball as of late, and we'll look to continue that this weekend. It's May and this is when the fun begins," noted Head Coach
Chris Tracz. "I think a key for this weekend is consistency. If we can sustain our approach, energy and intensity, we have an opportunity to keep improving."
The Red Foxes have a rematch with Albany on May 8 at 3 p.m. The teams previously met at McCann Field on April 2, and now face off in the Great Danes' diamond.
