Women’s Basketball Releases 2019-20 Non-Conference Schedule

Four home games, MAAC/ASUN Challenge highlight first two months

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Women's Basketball has officially announced its 2019-20 non-conference schedule.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Four contests at McCann Arena, beginning on Wednesday, November 13.
  • Of the nine games, the Red Foxes play six foes not on the schedule from last season.
  • Marist will also play five opponents for the first time.
  • The Red Foxes will tip off in five different states: New York, Massachusetts, Michigan, Florida, and Texas.
 
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8 - AT BOSTON
  • Earliest season opener for Marist since November 8, 2013 vs. Kentucky
  • Twelfth consecutive season both teams will play each other
  • Marist has won six-straight – including a 68-57 decision last year – and holds a 10-5 advantage in the all-time series
 
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13 - VS. ALBANY
  • Home opener
  • First game in all-time series in Poughkeepsie since 2014
  • Five Red Foxes scored in double figures in last year's meeting, a 74-56 Marist victory
 
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17 - VS. ELON
  • Second all-time meeting and first at McCann Arena
  • Marist edged Elon 61-57 on November 30, 2018 in the first matchup
  • The Phoenix posted a 4-14 record in the CAA last season
 
MAAC/ASUN CHALLENGE
  • Takes place Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23
  • The event is at the HP Fieldhouse on the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Florida
  • Both games will air on ESPN3 with the opportunity to move to ESPNU
  • Marist, along with Rider, will play North Florida and Lipscomb
  • The Red Foxes have never faced either team in the program's history
  • The Ospreys reached the ASUN Semifinals in 2019
  • Lauren Sumski was hired as head coach of the Bison in April
 
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30 - AT CENTRAL MICHIGAN
  • First all-time meeting between the two programs
  • In 2018-19, the Chippewas went 25-8 (15-3 in the MAC) and earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament
  • This will be the first time under Head Coach Brian Giorgis that Marist will play in the state of Michigan
 
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7 - VS. PRINCETON
  • Sixth meeting in the all-time series
  • Marist's last triumph came on November 17, 2012
  • The Tigers claimed their second-straight Ivy League championship a season ago.
 
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15 - VS. GREEN BAY
  • First-ever matchup with the Phoenix
  • Final non-conference home game of the season
  • Green Bay compiled a 22-10 record, going 15-3 in conference play and reaching the Horizon League Championship
 
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19 - AT UT ARLINGTON
  • Non-conference finale
  • First all-time contest between the Red Foxes and the Mavericks
  • Seniors Hannah Hand and Rebekah Hand grew up approximately 45 minutes from Arlington, TX in Argyle
