HAMDEN, Connecticut – Senior Lars Schouten, junior Jack Sequerth, and sophomore Piotr Sowinski will vie for singles titles on Sunday, September 22 at the Quinnipac Invitational. Schouten is one of four finalists in the A bracket, while the latter two play in the B Singles.
 

A SINGLES

• After dropping the first set 4-6 in the second round, Schouten rebounded by winning 6-3, 10-6 in the final two sets to defeat Fairfield's Edwards.
• Schouten recorded the same score in the quarterfinals, beating Lieb of Wesleyan to make it to Sunday.
• Sophomore Augusto Gonzalez Bonorino handled Quinnipiac's Martinovic in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to reach the quarterfinals before falling to Wesleyan's Carter.

 

B SINGLES

• Sequerth fended off Yannone of Quinnipiac 7-5 in the first set and won 6-2 in the second. In the quarterfinals, he triumphed over Fordham's Duka 6-1, 6-4.
• In the second round, Sowinski defeated Fordham's Mashaal 6-1, 6-1. A highly competitive quarterfinal match with Wesleyan's Fleischman saw the Poland native win 3-6, 7-6 (4), 10-3.
• Sophomore Kian Yazdi beat Lee of Wesleyan 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals, where he fell to Fairfield's Schlesinger.

 

OTHER RESULTS

• In the A Doubles semifinals, juniors John Oxner and Nestor Giribet Lopez fell to Gore and Olive-Blanco of Fairfield 6-1.
• Freshman Moritz Daxboeck was stopped in the second round by Fleischman.
• Sophomore Alexi Watelet was victorious in his consolation match, defeating UConn's Riemann 8-3.
