Women's Soccer Thwarted At Monmouth

Red Foxes Turn Attention To Three-Game Homestand

WEST LONG BRANCH, New Jersey – Three first-half goals from Monmouth doomed Marist as the Hawks won a 3-0 decision on Saturday evening at Hesse Field.
 
The loss puts Marist at 0-1-1 in MAAC play and 3-6-1 overall. The Hawks nab their second win in conference and improve to 4-2-2 overall.
 
THE SUMMARY
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Kelchner had to make two saves in the first three and a half minutes of the contest.
  • Marist almost struck first in the sixth minute when sophomore forward Victoria Colatosti sprung past two defenders. Her shot was saved by Amanda Knaub.
  • Monmouth struck first in the 27th minute on a free kick.
  • The Hawks earned a penalty kick in the 35th minute. Kelchner denied Jessica Johnson's shot, but the ball rebounded back to her, and she finished the second chance.
  • Kelchner made her final two saves in the 72nd and 79th minutes. The former was lined up after a corner kick, while the latter was made to her left.
