POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Redshirt sophomore midfielder
Kristen Prevosto tapped a header into the top-right corner of the goal with seven seconds left in regulation to lift Marist to a dramatic, 2-1 victory over Loyola (MD) in the Red Foxes' home opener at Tenney Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Marist improves to 3-2 on the season and grabs its first win in the Queen City this year. Loyola (MD) drops to 1-4 on the campaign.
- The Greyhounds broke the ice in the seventh minute when Hannah Hoefs flicked in a 25-yard shot from the left side.
- Sophomore forward Kaylin Sperley almost equalized the contest three minutes later, but Loyola keeper Lily Andres made the stop.
- Classmate Victoria Colatosti also had a shot denied by Andres with 10 minutes until halftime.
- Junior goalkeeper Abigail Renaud made two saves in the final three minutes of the first stanza.
- In the 76th minute, Colatosti was taken down in the box to set up a Marist penalty kick. Sperley tucked the ball in the bottom-right corner to knot the game at one.
- As the clock ticked under 10 seconds in the second half, Colatosti sent a cross into the box. Prevosto, occupying the right side, redirected the ball over Andres' head.
