Marist’s Acosta Named Freshman All-American

Defensive End Honored By Phil Steele Publications

 POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Red-shirt freshman defensive end Aaron Acosta of the Marist football team was named Fourth Team Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-American by Phil Steele Publications.
 
In the 2019 season, Acosta ranked second on the team in tackles for loss (seven), and tied for second in sacks (four). He totaled 40 tackles and had a forced fumble in nine games.
 
Acosta had a season-high two tackles for loss, including a sack, against nationally-ranked Dartmouth on Oct. 19. He registered a season-high seven tackles in a victory over Butler on Nov. 2.
 
Acosta was previously named Honorable Mention All-Pioneer Football League for his play this season.
 
The Marist football team completed its 11th season in the PFL in 2019. The Red Foxes won a share of the league title in 2013.
