ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – Marist divers
Raislan Aiken and
Esabelle Gervasio traveled to Maryland for the Navy Diving Invitational this weekend. The competition took place from Friday, January 17 to Saturday, January 18. Gervasio topped out in second place in the competition, while Aiken finished as high as sixth place in the event.
The four teams competing in the event were Marist, Navy, Penn State and Liberty. During day one of the competition, the men participated in the 3-meter diving event, while the women competed in the 1-meter dive. Then on Saturday, the events were flipped, and the women took on the 3-meter dive, while the men challenged the 1-meter dive. On Sunday, their will be a platform diving competition in which Marist will not be participating.

On day one, Aiken participated in the 3-meter diving portion of the competition. He advanced through the preliminary round by scoring 265.55 points, and then placed seventh overall with a score of 265.50. Meanwhile, Gervasio participated in the 1-meter diving portion of the event. She advanced through the preliminary round by scoring 253.75 points, and then placed second overall with a score of 238.05 in the final round.
On day two, Aiken took on the 1-meter diving portion of the competition. He advanced through the preliminary round by scoring 244.40 points, and then placed sixth overall with a score of 264.30. Meanwhile, Gervasio participated in the 3-meter diving portion of the event. She advanced through the preliminary round by scoring 221.25 points, and then placed seventh overall with a score of 250.85 in the final round.
The Red Foxes return to Poughkeepsie for their final home meet of the 2019-20 season on Saturday, January 25. Marist will host Bryant beginning at 11 a.m. This meet will also serve as senior day for all four Marist teams.
