POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist women's swimming & diving fell to the Bryant Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon at McCann Natatorium. With the loss, the Red Foxes fall to 8-5 overall on the season, but remain 4-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference meets. Meanwhile, Bryant improves to 7-3 overall on the season.
- The women opened up senior day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team consisting of Juliet Nowak, Georgeanne Zimmerman, Veronica Stureborg, and Megan Lasto finished at 1:46.10.
- Jessica Freund was the second leading scorer of the women's swimmers, scoring nine points in the meet. Her best performance was a second place finish in the 200-yard breast (2:27.77).
- Esabelle Gervasio, the five-time MAAC Diver of the Week, had another dominant performance. She won the 3-meter dive with a score of 252.15, and then won the 1-meter dive later in the competition with a score of 235.30.
- Madison Sweeney placed second in the 3-meter dive and fourth in the 1-meter dive, with scores of 222.15 and 209.25, respectively.
- Marist finished strong with a second place finish in the 400-yard free relay, as the team of Georgeanne Zimmerman, Emma Butzler, Sidney Judson, and Jordyn Deubel clocked in at 3:41.68.
- Senior captain Nowak set the tone early for the Red Foxes, getting the team on the board with their first individual first-place victory. She finished with a time of 59.23 in the 100-yard back.
- Nowak also finished with a time of 28.01 in the 50-back portion of the 200-yard medley, helping Marist get on the board early. She was the highlight of the meet for Marist, leading the team with 14 points, also finishing in second place in the 200-yard back with a time of 2:08.48.
- Miller had two third place finishes in the meet, and totaled six points. She finished in third in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:14.38, and then third in the 100-yard fly with a time 1:00.90
The Red Foxes no longer have any dual meets on their schedule, and will now start preparations for the MAAC Championships. Marist has next week off, and then the event will begin on Wednesday, February 12 at 6 p.m. It will run through Saturday, February 15. The MAAC Championships will take place in Buffalo, NY.
