Sarah Barcello once again led Marist with 18 points, senior captain
Willow Duffell recorded 12 points and 11 rebounds for her third-career double-double, and the Red Foxes completed the regular season sweep of Canisius with an 82-61 victory on Saturday evening at McCann Arena.

With the win, Marist is now 3-0 in the regular season, and 2-0 in the MAAC. The Golden Griffins stumble to 0-3 and 0-2 in conference.

Zaria Demember-Shazer notched her first game in double figures as a Red Fox with 12 points and five boards, while junior guard
Kendall Krick's career-high tying 11 points rounded out the Red Foxes with 10-plus points.

As a team, Marist shot 53.2 percent from the field, and outrebounded Canisius 43-23.

Dani Haskell paced three Golden Griffins in double figures with 19 points. Anndea Zeigler and Shaunae Brown had 14 and 13 points, respectively.

- The Red Foxes burst out to an 11-0 lead in the first 4:03, with Barcello providing nine points on three layups and a three-pointer. She would finish the quarter with 11 points.
- Late in the first, Demember-Shazer tipped a Haskell shot, and skated past midcourt to sink a foul line jumper that took a few friendly bounces, putting Marist up 19-3.
- Marist finished the frame up 26-6 as freshman forward Caitlin Weimar converted a layup just before the buzzer following a Duffell offensive rebound.
- Canisius scored the first six points of the second quarter to cut the lead to 26-12, but Weimar kept the Golden Griffins at bay with a conventional three-point play at the 6:17 mark.
- Krick put the Foxes up 43-21 just before the half by cutting to the hoop and taking the touch pass from Weimar. Marist went into the locker room up by 20.
- She then capitalized on a euro step layup off an inbound from sophomore guard Trinasia Kennedy to put Marist on top 52-30 midway through the third quarter.
- The Red Foxes' largest lead of the contest was 26, which occurred after senior captain Allie Best drilled a straightaway three-pointer for a 59-33 advantage with 1:31 remaining in the third.
- Canisius got as close as 15 just 2:40 into the fourth quarter, but a Duffell jumper and another Best triple put the lead back to 20.
- Barcello concluded her evening with an open, left-corner three with 3:15 left, receiving a feed from Best off an inbound.
- After sophomore guard Julianna Bonilla completed a nostalgic three-point sequence with under 90 seconds to go, freshman guard Anabel Ellison imitated Best with an inbound lob to sophomore forward Samantha Bailey for a layup that put Marist into the 80s less than 30 seconds later.
- The Red Foxes shot 58.1 percent in the first half, going 18-of-31 from the field.
- Barcello had 15 of Marist's 43 points in that span. Overall, she was +24 in the game.
- Marist led by 20 after each of the first three quarters.
- Canisius was limited to 38.9 percent shooting in the game, the fourth consecutive game since last season that Marist has held its opponent under 40 percent.
- Thirty-four of the Red Foxes' 43 boards were on the defensive glass.
- Best had a team-best four assists, while Marist assisted on 20 of the team's 33 buckets.
- The Red Foxes had the edge in points in the paint (44-22, most this year for Marist), second-chance points (12-2), and bench points (37-16, also a season-high).
- Barcello has solely led Marist in scoring in all three games this season. She accomplished that feat once in her first two years.
- This is Duffell's earliest double-double in a season. Her previous two double-doubles came on February 1st, 2019 at Siena, and February 8th, 2020 vs. Manhattan.
- She also has consecutive games with 10 or more rebounds. The most she's done that in a single season is three times.
- Krick knotted her career-high from January 17th, 2019 against Siena. This was the second time in her career she's scored 10-plus points.
- Best has yet to allow a turnover, while boosting her assist count to 13 in the young campaign.
- The Red Foxes have now won 15 games in a row, dating back to February 1st, 2020.
- Marist improves to 42-14 in the all-time series against Canisius, winning 11 straight and 33 of the last 35.
