Tenney Stadium Named One of the Best Places to Watch College Lacrosse

Marist Mentioned Along with Maryland, Penn State, and Other Top Teams

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Inside Lacrosse has named Marist's Tenney Stadium one of the top venues for fans to watch college lacrosse in the nation. In a section dedicated for which stadiums provide the best fan experience and atmosphere, Tenney Stadium was mentioned in between #1 Penn State's Panzer Stadium and #4 Maryland's Maryland Stadium.

"It's a hidden gem with 5,000 seats, a nice VIP area and grass seating surrounding, as well as views of the Hudson River," Inside Lacrosse writer Matt Kinnear said. "It's location centrally on campus makes it a hotspot for the student body. You can hear the music from the stadium as you walk through campus and, when you see the lights on for a night game, you know it's a big event at Marist."

Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson said, "Eddie Coombs' presence can still be felt and it has been almost 10 years since his passing. That emotional investment is what takes the experience at Tenney from a great venue to a special stadium."

After winning the 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship, Marist hosted an opening round NCAA tournament game at Tenney Stadium at the end of last season. The Red Foxes welcomed UMBC to Poughkeepsie, and Tenney's great atmosphere was on full display. Marist fans packed the venue, leading to an attendance that ranked top five in 2019.

The Red Foxes opened the 2020 season last Saturday at Tenney Stadium, and picked up its first opening day victory in three years in front of another strong Tenney Stadium crowd.  Marist took on the Binghamton Bearcats, and the Red Foxes held a 4-3 advantage at halftime. However, the Tenney Stadium crowd came alive in the second half, and the great atmosphere helped propel an 8-1 Marist run to close out the game and give the Red Foxes a 12-4 victory.

Marist's next game at Tenney Stadium will be next Tuesday, February 18 at 3 p.m. The Red Foxes will be hosting nationally ranked Army West Point, who currently sits at #14 on the Maverik Division I Media Poll.
