POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Freshman pitcher
Kiley Myers of the Marist softball team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Pitcher and Rookie of the Week on Tuesday.
Myers pitched a four-hitter in her collegiate debut on Feb. 15 against Green Bay in the Bruin Challenge. She struck out three and did not walk anyone. Myers needed just 77 pitches, 57 of which were strikes, in her shutout.
The following day, Myers closed out the Red Foxes' 5-3 win over Belmont, as she induced a game-ending double play.
For the week, Myers did not allow a run over 7.2 innings pitched.
Marist (3-1) returns to action this week at the Razorback Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas. The Red Foxes will play five games in three days (all times Eastern):
- Friday: Arkansas (5:45 p.m.), Boston University (8 p.m.).
- Saturday: South Dakota State (5:45 p.m.), Montana (8 p.m.).
- Sunday: Arkansas (12:45 p.m.).
