FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – The Marist softball team (3-3) dropped two games on its first day of play at the Razorback Invitational. The Red Foxes fell 7-0 to #23 Arkansas, and then 2-0 to Boston University.
 

First Game - #23 Arkansas 7, Marist 0

• Arkansas scored once in the first, three times in the second, twice in the fourth, and once in the fifth.
• For Marist, Caroline Baratta and Claire Oberdorf each singled. Shea Walsh drew a walk.
• Calista Phippen started and went the first four innings. Nicole Teague followed with two hitless innings of relief.
• Hannah McEwen paced Arkansas offensively by going 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two walks, a double, and an RBI.
• Mary Haff started and went the first four innings to earn the win. Jenna Bloom struck out six in the final three innings and earned the save.

 

Second Game - Boston University 2, Marist 0

• The Terriers scored the game's only runs in the first inning on a two-run homer by Aliyah Huerta-Leipner.
• The Red Foxes had three hits in the sixth inning, but had a runner thrown out at the plate to end the frame. In the seventh, Marist had the tying run on base, but was unable to score.
• Alyssa Yarem had a double for the Red Foxes, who received singles from Walsh, Oberdorf, and Jade Sinskul.
• Kiley Myers pitched a complete game for the Red Foxes, and surrendered just five hits. She struck out two.
• Emily Gant struck out seven in 5.2 innings to earn the win for BU. Ali DuBois got the final four outs for her third save.

• Marist will play two games in the Razorback Invitational on Saturday. The Red Foxes will take on South Dakota State at 5:45 p.m. Eastern, followed by Montana at 8.
• The Red Foxes will then close out the tournament against Arkansas at 12:45 p.m. Eastern in a game that will be carried live on SEC Network Plus.
