Marist Softball Falls To Toledo

Freeland Delivers Two-Run Single

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Marist softball team was defeated by Toledo, 5-2, in its final game of the Seahawk Softball Challenge on Sunday morning.

  • Toledo scored first in the third, when Dayna Denner's double brought home Samantha Golden.
  • The Rockets added a pair of runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 3-0.
  • Marist got on the scoreboard in the fifth, when Sam Freeland's two-out single brought home Shea Walsh and Alyssa Yarem.
  • Anna Dixon's sacrifice fly extended Toledo's lead to 4-2 in the sixth.
  • In the seventh, Lily Beyer's RBI single gave Toledo a 5-2 advantage and closed out the scoring.

  • Toledo outhit Marist, 9-4. Jade Sinskul led the Red Foxes with two hits.
  • Kiley Myers started for the Red Foxes, and struck out five in five innings. Nicole Teague and Meghan Haff each followed with an inning of relief.
