Red Foxes Vie For Fifth-Straight Win

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Men's Tennis seeks to extend its winning streak to five matches when it welcomes UConn to the Cross Court Tennis Club on Sunday, March 8 at 4:15 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red and White cruised to a 7-0 victory over Lafayette in Schenectady, NY on Sunday, March 1.
  • Marist swept the doubles points, and five of the six singles matches were in straight sets.
  • Based on available files, it was the first win over the Leopards in program history.
 
BEAT THE STREAK
  • Marist has not won five in a row since the 2016-2017 season.
  • In that year, the Red Foxes won 11 straight from March 12 to April 19.
  • In those 11 matches, Marist conceded only eight points.
 
SOCIAL MEDIA
 
SCOUTING UCONN
  • The Huskies are 1-13 in dual matches this year, and have lost 12 straight.
  • In only three matches, UConn was won more than one point.
  • Against common opponents compared to Marist, they fell to St. John's 7-0, Bucknell 4-3, Siena 4-3, Fairfield 6-1, and Hofstra 4-0.
  • Yili Zheng has the most singles wins on the team with eight, while Christian Provenzano and J. Michael Holtmann have a team-best eight victories in doubles.
 
WE MEET AGAIN
  • Marist and UConn crossed paths on three separate occasions in the fall at the UConn Invitational, Quinnipiac Invitational, and West Point Invite.
  • In the UConn Invitational on September 14, the Red Foxes swept the Huskies 7-0 in a modified, blind dual match format. All six singles players won in straight sets.
 
UP NEXT
  • Marist treks to the Palmetto State for matches against the College of Charleston and South Carolina State.
