WEST LONG BRANCH, New Jersey – The Marist men's soccer team earned a 1-0 triumph at Monmouth in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match on Wednesday night.
Marist and Monmouth are now tied for first-place in the MAAC with 15 points, with the Red Foxes owning the tiebreaker. The Red Foxes have three regular-season matches remaining, while the Hawks have four.
- Each team had two shots on goal in the first half, but the match was scoreless at halftime.
- Kyle Galloway scored the match's lone goal in the 77th minute, which was set up by Henrique Cruz.
- In the 90th minute, Samuel Ilin's penalty kick save off Julian Gomez preserved the Red Foxes' one-goal lead. The Hawks did not register a shot after that.
- Monmouth led in shots taken, 12-9, but Marist had a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
- Monmouth led in corner kicks, 4-3.
- Ilin made three saves for the Red Foxes.

- Cruz now has three assists this year, which ranks tied for third on the team.
- Ilin's clean sheet was his fourth of the season.
- Marist has not permitted a goal in two straight contests and 215:13 of game time, all of which has come with Ilin in net. It's the first time the Red Foxes have recorded a shutout in back-to-back matches.
- Marist has won three in a row for the first time this season.
- Marist has now won four straight against Monmouth. All have been by one goal, and the previous three went into overtime.
