LOUDONVILLE, New York - The Marist men's soccer team and Siena Battled to a scoreless tie Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. After holding a decisive advantage in shots at 22-9 (11-2 Shots on goal) the Red Foxes would settle for just a point.
- Stefan Copetti led the way for the Foxes with seven shots, three of which were on target.
- Antek Sienkiel took a crack at net six times, three of which found the frame, and Kyle Galloway chipped in with three shots, one on target.
- Siena's keeper, Greg Monroe was forced to make 11 saves to keep the game tied at zero. Monroe made three saves in overtime.
- Samuel Ilin made two saves for his third straight clean sheet.
- The Red Foxes have not allowed a goal in 325:13, all of which has come with Ilin in net.
- This is the first time Marist has recorded three straight shutouts since 2011.
- This is Marist's first 0-0 tie since Sept. 21, 2018 at Penn.
- Marist is now 8-6-2 overall and 5-2-1 in MAAC play. The Red Foxes lead the MAAC with 16 points.
- Siena stands at 6-6-3 overall and 2-3-2 in conference action.
"Tough match on the road against a well-coached, organized team. We're pleased with the point but we probably deserved all three. We lacked a bit of sharpness and continuity in the lineup, but this time of year, that can happen. We'll got sleep tonight alone at the top of the table and look forward to getting after it Wednesday in our final regular-season home match."
- The Red Foxes have just two games remaining on their 2021 slate. First up is their final home match against Niagara on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. before they wrap up the season on the road against Fairfield the following Wednesday, Nov. 3.
- The MAAC Men's Soccer Championship kick off on Sunday, Nov. 7 with quarterfinal action.
