POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist volleyball team earned a three-set win over Manhattan in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference volleyball match at McCann Arena on Sunday. The Red Foxes won 25-20, 25-18, 27-25 to take both matches against the Jaspers this season.
 

Summary

• A 6-0 run in the middle of the first set enabled the Red Foxes to pull away. The surge included two kills and a block assist by Sasha van der Merwe.
• After spotting Manhattan a 2-0 lead in the second set, the Red Foxes answered with three straight points, and didn't trail the rest of the set. Late in the set, McKinley Fox provided three straight Marist points with two kills and an ace.
• Manhattan jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the third set, and extended its advantage to 18-12. Marist answered with four straight points, and then a 5-0 run put Marist in front 24-21. Then the Jaspers fought off three match points, and scored four in a row to force a set point of their own. However, Marist then closed out the match with three straight points. Gabriella Heimbauer had a kill and a block assist on the match's final two points.

• Heimbauer had 21 kills and hit 410.
• Fox finished with 42 assists, 11 digs, four blocks, three aces, and two kills.
• Morgan Owens had a team-high 16 digs.
• Alyssa White had a team-best five blocks and hit .429 with four kills.
• For Manhattan, Erin Hoener had team highs with 10 kills and eight blocks.
• Manhattan had 11 blocks, while Marist had 10.

• Marist is 14-10 overall and 9-4 in MAAC play. The Red Foxes have won nine of their last 11, and are 7-1 in MAAC home matches.
• Manhattan is 1-14 on the season and 1-10 in conference.
