LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – Marist Volleyball was on the road again to take on the Rider Broncs. Locked in a nail-biting, five-set match on Sunday, Rider came out with the 3-2 win.

Sophomore outside hitter
Jordan Newblatt was electric with a game-leading 24 kills and a team-leading 17 digs, tied with teammate
Morgan Owens. Senior setter
McKinley Fox led the team with 35 assists, and had four kills. Freshman
Jillian Hanna led the game with four service aces.

Morgan Romano led Rider with 14 kills and 1 service ace. Anilee Sher had 48 assists.

- Rider came out hot in the first set, leading 7-4 early. But the Red Foxes kept clawing back, keeping it close throughout. However, 13 attack errors hindered that comeback.
- The Broncs went up 1-0 after a 25-16 first set victory.
- The second set saw each team trade points, starting off the set 6-6. The largest lead only was only three when Sasha van der Merwe's kill put Marist up 11-8. Newblatt was leading the way with nine kills.
- Newblatt was hot throughout the second set, leading the Marist offense to a 21-19 lead at the end of the set. The final minutes saw both teams in a neck and neck scrap, and Marist was able to pull away with a huge block by freshman Alyssa White to take the second set, 25-22.
- In the third set, Rider took control early, jumping up to a quick 8-4 lead. Rider's Jillian Chan put together multiple kills to spark their run.
- At 12-12, both teams were locked in a long rally, and Marist capitalized and took the point there on a Newblatt kill, swinging the momentum.
- That ignited an 8-0 run after the rally and put Marist ahead 20-12 in the final minutes of the set. The Broncs were creeping up on the Red Foxes' lead, making it only a five-point lead for Marist at 23-18. But Hanna and then a handling error from the Broncs ended the third set at 25-21, giving the Red Foxes a 2-1 set lead.
- Rider came out with a quick 7-1 edge in the fourth set, as Christina Blount posted two kills. Pamela Loh also spearheaded their run, as she had two aces and capitalized on a Marist service error.
- Marist was down by as much as 10, 15-5, and Rider went up to a commanding 23-14 lead soon after and winning 25-14 to equalize the match.
- The fifth set started in Rider's favor; Jordan Taylor's kill made it a 7-4 Rider lead and forcing a Red Fox timeout. Marist stormed back and brought it to only 10-8, with Newblatt getting her 24th kill.
- Hanna notched her fourth ace of the game to bring it within two, but Rider blocked a great strike. However, Rider claimed the final set 15-11.
- Marist had 49 kills and 44 assists as a team. It also set a season-high with 11 aces.
- The Red Foxes only had a .094 hitting percentage, with a high of .292 in their third set win.
- Romano and Chan of the Broncs had 14 and 11 kills respectively. With a team total of 56.
- Marist is now 9-9 and 4-3 in MAAC play.
- Rider is now 7-8 and 5-1 in MAAC play.
- Marist comes back home for the first contest of a four-game homestand, starting with Canisius on Saturday, October 9th at 6 p.m.
