Football Drops PFL Contest at St. Thomas

Wright Notches 13 Tackles

ST. PAUL, Minnesota – The Marist football team dropped a Pioneer Football League contest at St. Thomas on Saturday, 27-7.
 
Summary
  • St. Thomas took a 6-0 lead on its first drive on a 51-yard touchdown pass from Cade Sexauer to Max Zimmerman.
  • On the Tommies' third possession, Hope Adebayo ran for a 30-yard touchdown.
  • An errant snap on fourth down on the final play of the first quarter set Marist up at the St. Thomas 2. Austin Day scored a two-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of the second quarter, which cut the Red Foxes' deficit to 13-7.
  • Mike Arrington blocked a punt on the next St. Thomas possession, but the Red Foxes came away from their ensuing drive with no points as they did not convert a fourth-and-goal at the St. Thomas 2.
  • St. Thomas took a 13-7 lead to the locker room.
  • Sexauer's one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter capped a 15-play, 83-yard drive, and gave the Tommies a 20-7 lead.
  • Adebayo's 28-yard touchdown run with 5:55 to play closed out the scoring.
