POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory over Saint Peter's in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match on Sunday at McCann Arena. The Red Foxes prevailed by scores of 25-11, 25-17, 25-18 on Senior Day.
- A 10-1 run early in the first set propelled the Red Foxes in set one. This stretch included a kill and three blocks from Vanessa Zolg.
- With Madelyn Waumans serving, the Red Foxes scored the first seven points of the second set. Jordan Newblatt had four kills in this time, including ones on three consecutive points. Although Saint Peter's fought off three straight set points, Sally Tietjen's kill ended the second set in favor of Marist.
- The third set started close, but Marist pulled away thanks to a 5-0 run near the midway point of the set. Anne Mahler combined with Alyssa White for consecutive blocks, and Mahler added assists on two more points in this run.
- Newblatt finished with 14 kills, six digs, and a .419 hitting percentage.
- Morgan Owens had a match-best 21 digs.
- Zolg led the Red Foxes with four blocks, and added five kills on a .500 hitting percentage.
- Playing in the final two sets, Mahler finished with 24 assists.
- Marist hit .267 for the match.
- Angeleyshka Curbelo had eight kills and three blocks for Saint Peter's.
- Prior to the match, the Marist senior class of McKinley Fox, Skylar Harrison, Morgan Owens, and Madelyn Waumans was honored. This class helped Marist achieve a 35-20 record in MAAC play the last four years, and has combined for 20 selections to the Dean's List.
- With 16 wins this season, Marist has its highest total since 2015 (21).
- This was Marist's final home match of the season. The Red Foxes went 9-1 against MAAC foes at McCann Arena.
- Marist has now won 11 of its last 13.
- Owens now has eight matches this season with 20-plus digs.
- Marist is now 16-10 on the season and 11-4 in the MAAC.
- Saint Peter's is 1-25 this season and 0-14 in the MAAC.
