POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Graduate safety
Kyle Fleitman of the Marist football team was named CoSIDA Academic All-District on Thursday.
Fleitman is currently pursuing his Master's of Business Administration at Marist, and majored in Business Administration: Marketing as an undergraduate. He was named a national semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy this year, and is serving as a team captain. Fleitman has been named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll four times, and is a previous Dean's List honoree at Marist.
This season, Fleitman has started all nine games at safety. He is fourth on the team in tackles (59) and second in pass break-ups (four). Fleitman was a Preseason All-PFL selection this year, and was a Second Team All-PFL honoree in 2019.
This is the third straight year the Marist football program has had a student-athlete named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. It is Fleitman's first CoSIDA honor.
Marist (5-4 overall, 5-2 Pioneer Football League) closes out the regular season on Saturday, when the Red Foxes host Butler on Senior Day at Tenney Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon, and tickets are available on MaristTickets.com. The Red Foxes remain in contention for a share of the PFL title and an automatic berth to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.
