POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The start of December also means the start of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play for the Marist men's basketball team.
The Red Foxes (2-3 overall) open MAAC play on Wednesday night against defending champion and preseason favorite Iona. Tip-off at McCann Arena is set for 7 p.m. The Gaels enter the contest at 6-2, which includes a victory over #10 Alabama on Thanksgiving Day in this year's ESPN Events Invitational.
Marist will then head to Rider for a Sunday contest with a 2 p.m. tip-off. The Broncs are currently 3-6, and will play at Iona on Friday night before hosting the Red Foxes.
- The Red Foxes did not play Iona last season. Wednesday's meeting with be the 68th against the Gaels all-time, and first since Feb. 16, 2020.
- In the Marist-Iona series, the winning team has scored at least 78 points in 19 of the last 20 meetings.
- In their most recent contest on Saturday, Marist fell to Army West Point, 65-61.Three Red Foxes scored in double figures: Jao Ituka (12), Matt Herasme (11), and Noah Harris (11).
- Three of Marist's five games this season have been decided by less than five points, including two overtime contests.
- Marist split the season series against Rider last year, with both games taking place at Rider.

- Iona's Nelly Junior Joseph leads the Gaels in points per game (15.0) and rebounds per game (8.4). He is the reigning MAAC Player of the Week.
- Tyson Jolly leads the team in minutes per game (33.9) and is second in points per game (14.4).

- Rider's Dwight Murray Jr. leads the Broncos in points per game (15.9) and in minutes per game (37.1).
- Dimencio Vaughn leads the team in rebounds per game (6.9) and is second in points per game (11.9).
