POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Fifth-year senior safety
Teddy Wright of the Marist football team has been named All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Wright enjoyed a standout 2021 season, and was previously named First Team All-Pioneer Football League (PFL). He recorded 76 tackles, seven stops for loss, four interceptions, three sacks, one fumble recovery, and one pass break-up from the safety position. He ranked second on the team in interceptions, and third in tackles, tackles for loss, and sacks.
Wright totaled 11 tackles, one-and-a-half stops for loss, a sack, and an interception in Marist's overtime win at Valparaiso on Oct. 2. He had three games with at least 10 tackles, including a career-high 13 at St. Thomas on Oct. 30.
Wright had back-to-back games with sacks in victories over Drake and Presbyterian, and had interceptions in each of the Red Foxes' final two games against Presbyterian and Butler.
The All-ECAC student-athletes came from regional schools representing the Ivy League, Patriot League, Colonial Athletic Association, Big South Conference, Northeast Conference, and Pioneer Football League.
The Marist football team finished the 2021 season at 5-5 overall and 5-3 in PFL play.
