LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey - The Marist men's basketball team defeated Rider for its first win of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play this season, 79-67, on Sunday.
 

Summary

• A triple from Ricardo Wright with 16:27 remaining in the first half gave Marist a 7-2 lead early on.
• Mervin James tied the game at 9 with a three pointer, but Noah Harris answered with a three of his own to give Marist a 12-9 lead with 11:46 left in the first half. Harris' three started a 10-0 Marist run gave the Red Foxes a 19-9 lead at the 8:27 mark. The Red Foxes led the rest of the way.
• Another Wright three-pointer put Marist up 34-22 with 1:20 left in the first half.
• At the half, Marist had a 37-24 lead paced by Wright's 13 first-half points, which included a jumper in the waning seconds.
• With 14:48 left in the second half, Marist built up their biggest lead so far, leading 48-32 on a bucket by Wright.
• A Jao Ituka and-1 gave Marist a 20-point lead heading into the under-12 media timeout.
• Matt Herasme had two second half threes as the Red Foxes built their lead to as large as 21.

• This is Wright's second game with 20-plus points this year, and third in his career. Two have taken place at Rider.
• Sullivan and Wright have scored in double figures a team-leading five times this season.
• Cele has scored in double figures in four of his last five games.
• Marist has won two straight games at Rider for the first time since 2008.
