POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the women's and men's outdoor track & field preseason polls on Tuesday morning. The Marist men's team was projected to finish fifth in the conference this season, while the women were projected to finish sixth in the MAAC this spring. This was a cumulation of the votes by the MAAC's head coaches.
These projections fall close to how the 2019 MAAC Championships shook out. The men finished in sixth place last season, and are projected to jump one spot in the standings. Meanwhile, the women placed fifth at last year's event, and have been pegged to finish in fifth again in 2021.
On the men's side, the Monmouth Hawks were projected to finish in first place, receiving all eight first place votes. On the women's side, the Rider Broncs were picked to take home the gold this year, narrowly edging out Monmouth (both teams got four first place votes).
Rider University Will Host the 2021 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the Michael P. Brady Track and Field Complex in Lawrence Township, NJ. The event is scheduled to take place on May 8 and May 9.
