Marist Men’s Basketball’s Schedule Released

Red Foxes’ Nine Non-Conference Contests & 20-Game MAAC Schedule Revealed

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The entire Marist men's basketball schedule for the 2021-22 season was released on Friday. The Red Foxes' nine non-conference games were announced by the Marist Athletics Department, and their 20 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games were revealed by the conference.
 
Here are some highlights of this year's schedule:
 
  • The Red Foxes' season begins on Tuesday, Nov. 9 at American.
  • Marist will start with three straight road games (American; Columbia – Friday, Nov. 12; Princeton – Wednesday, Nov. 17) before its home opener against VMI on Saturday, Nov. 20.
  • Marist's non-conference slate will consist of three home games and six road contests.
    • In addition to VMI, the Red Foxes will host Navy (Sunday, Dec. 12) and Bethune Cookman (Wednesday, Dec. 22).
    • Following American, Columbia, and Princeton, the Red Foxes' road non-conference foes include local rival Army West Point (Saturday, Nov. 27), Binghamton (Wednesday, Dec. 8), and Boston University (Saturday, Dec. 18).
  • The MAAC will return to a weekend of conference play in early December. Marist plays the first MAAC game of the 2021-22 season when it hosts defending champion Iona on Wednesday, Dec. 1. The Red Foxes close out the opening MAAC weekend at Rider on Sunday, Dec. 5.
  • After playing its final four non-conference games, the Red Foxes resume MAAC play at Monmouth on New Year's Eve.
  • Four of Marist's first five January games will be at McCann Arena, including three straight against Rider (Sunday, Jan. 9), Siena (Friday, Jan. 14), and Monmouth (Sunday, Jan. 16).
  • To close January and open February, the Red Foxes will play three consecutive road games against Quinnipiac (Friday, Jan. 28), Manhattan (Sunday, Jan. 30), and Saint Peter's (Sunday, Jan. 6).
  • Marist's home finale will be against Manhattan on Friday, Feb. 25.
  • The Red Foxes close the regular season in western New York against Canisius (Thursday, March 3) and Niagara (Saturday, March 5).
  • The 2022 MAAC Basketball Championships will be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey the following week.
  • Marist will have a total of 12 home games at McCann Arena in 2021-22. Six will be on Sunday, one on Monday, two on Wednesday, two on Friday, and two on Saturday.
    • All six Sunday games will tip off at 2 p.m.
    • All other games will tip off at 7 p.m., with the exception of the home opener vs. VMI on Saturday, Nov. 20. That contest will start at 5 p.m.

The 2021-22 season will be the fourth for the Red Foxes under the leadership of head coach John Dunne. Last season, Marist had its highest winning percentage and best conference finish in 14 years.
