Men's Soccer Hosts Howard In Home Opener

Marist Begins Three-Game Home Stretch On Saturday

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Nearly 671 days since the Marist men's soccer program played under the lights at Tenney Stadium, the Red Foxes will once again host a home game, welcoming Howard to the Hudson Valley on Saturday, September 11th at 7 p.m.

  • The Red Foxes and UAlbany locked into a scoreless game for 98 minutes, but the Great Danes scored in overtime to secure the 1-0 decision on Tuesday.
  • Making his first collegiate start, goalkeeper Dylan McDermott notched four saves, including three after the first half.

  • Marist capped its four-game road trip with a 2-2 record, with every game decided by 1-0.
  • The Red Foxes captured victories over Saint Joseph's and St. John's of the A-10 and Big East, respectively.
  • The offense averaged just under 12 shots per game, with their shot accuracy at 38.3 percent.
  • The defense limited opponents to a 34.5 percentage for shots on goal, allowing only two goals in the stretch.

HOme, sweet home
  • The Red Foxes play their first home game since November 10th, 2019, which was the MAAC Quarterfinals against Manhattan.
  • That season, Marist went 7-2 on the bank of the Hudson River, its best home record in at least two decades. This included non-conference triumphs over Gonzaga, Saint Joseph's, and Hofstra.
  • Including that quarterfinal match, the Red Foxes have won three straight at Tenney Stadium.

  • Howard enters Saturday's match at 0-1-2, most recently suffering a 2-1 setback to Duquesne on September 5th.
  • This will be the Bison's second road match; its first was also against a MAAC foe in Monmouth, a 3-3 draw on August 27th.
  • Duncan Dunkwu paces Howard's attack with three goals and an assist in just three games. This includes a hat trick against the aforementioned Hawks.
  • Bryson Baker and Sammy Oladeji also have scored this season.
  • Emery Simon has played all 310 minutes between the pipes, registering a 1.74 GAA and .778 save percentage.

  • Saturday marks the third all-time meeting between Marist and Howard, and the first since 2010.
  • In the last meeting, the Red Foxes rolled to a 3-0 victory in Poughkeepsie. Lucas Szabo, Stephan Brossard, and Steven Morales tallied goals, while Joe Pilla earned the shutout in goal.

  • Marist's homestand continues with New Hampshire on Tuesday, September 14th and Bryant on Saturday, September 18th. Both games kick off at 7 p.m.
