POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's soccer team started off conference play with a 1-1 draw against the Fairfield Stags after 110 minutes was not enough to separate the two teams.
The result moves the Red Foxes to 1-2-2 as the Stags remain unbeaten in their last six matches and move to 4-2-3.
Marist struck first in the contest with three minutes remaining in the first half, as junior forward
Brooke Cergol was able to find the back of the net for her second goal of the season. However, in the 49th minute Fairfield's Stephanie Tsangaris was in the right place at the right time to put home the equalizer after a deflection by senior goalkeeper
Natalie Kelchner.
Sophomore midfielder
Amanda Caldarelli paced the Red Foxes with three shots, two of which were on goal.
Natalie Kelchner recorded a season-high 11 saves.
Reagan Klarmann and Elle Scott each had four shots on goal for the Stags. Gena Pike recorded six saves.
- In the 11th minute Elle Scott recorded the first shot of the game, but it went wide.
- Nine minutes later, freshman midfielder Autumn Smith recorded Marist's first shot of the game for Marist, a rip over the net.
- In the 24th minute, Klarmann got the first shot on goal, a diving save made by Kelchner.
- In the 30th minute, the Stags'Â Kayla Leary ripped another shot off target after a corner kick. A moment later, Fairfield got a quick counter attack, and Scott laced a shot wide.
- With five minutes remaining in the half, Caldarelli ripped a shot on goal that was deflected out of bounds by Pike.
- Two minutes later, senior forward Victoria Colatosti had the ball in the right corner and passed to Riley Abate, who poked it to Cergol in front of the net. She fired it in to give Marist the 1-0 lead at the half.

- In the 46th minute, Scott got an early chance that was easily scooped up by Natalie Kelchner.
- In the 49th minute, Klarmann whipped another shot on target that Natalie Kelchner deflected, but Tsangaris was there to finish it off with her head and tie the game at one apiece.
- Caldarelli cut inside and fired a shot just wide in the 53rd minute.
- Kelchner made two stops in a span of five minutes before the 60th minute.
- Moments later, sophomore forward Bridget Dudziec fired a shot from outside the box, but it was off target.
- Kelchner continued to impress with multiple saves around the 70th minute.
- With 15 minutes remaining Amanda Caldarelli found space outside the box and fired a shot that was saved by Pike.
- In the 86th minute Hannah Vogt found space outside the box and fired a shot off target.

- Within the first 30 seconds, Dudziec made a run to the box and fired a shot that was saved.
- Four minutes into overtime, freshman midfielder Christina Layden kicked a soft shot that Pike got a holf of.
- Early in the second period of OT, Scott broke free from defenders and got a shot off that was deflected by Kelchner. Scott shot again and this time it was scooped up by the senior.
- In the 102nd minute, Colatosti got an opportunity and fired a shot wide from the left side of the box.
- Senior midfielder Abby Murphy took a shot outside the box, but Pike got her mitts on it in the 107th minute.
- With one minute remaining in the game, Murphy passed to Colatosti, who fired a potential game-winner, but Pike stopped it to keep the score level.

- Fairfield had the advantage in shots (21-14) and shots on goal (11-7).
- Corner kicks also favored the Stags 11-9.
- Senior defender Riley Abate and Colatosi recorded assists on Cergol's second strike of the year.
- Five Red Foxes played the full 110 minutes: Kelchner, Caldarelli, Abate, junior captain Samantha Sturno, and graduate defender Deanna Lomino.

- Marist is now on a three-match unbeaten streak at 1-0-2.
- Kelchner continues her streak of increasing her goals output in every game. It is the first time since Marist's lone match of 2020-21 she notched double-digit saves.
- Cergol has scored twice in the last three matches. Abate has provided an assist on both of her tallies.
- Colatosti's helper was her first point of 2021, and first since November 3rd, 2019.
- The Red Foxes move to 17-5-4 at home in MAAC play since 2015.
- Marist has not lost to Fairfield in five of the last six meetings.
- After an eight-day layoff, Marist welcomes Saint Peter's to Poughkeepsie on Sunday, September 26th at 1 p.m.
