Women's Soccer Snags MAAC Win Over Saint Peter's

Amanda Caldarelli, Bridget Dudziec Connect Twice In Win

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist women's soccer team notched their second win of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Saint Peter's Peahens on Sunday afternoon at Tenney Stadium.
 
The result boosts the Red Foxes to 2-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in MAAC play. The Peacocks continue their losing streak and fall to 0-8-0, and 0-2 in the MAAC.
 
Marist struck first in the contest in the 61st minute, when sophomore forward Bridget Dudziec was able to keep the play alive on the end line and cross it into sophomore midfielder Amanda Caldarelli, who was able to find space and fire it into the back of the net. Two minutes later, the pair linked up again to put the Red Foxes up 2-0.
 
The Peacocks scored their only goal of the game in the 77th minute after a free kick taken by junior midfielder Madison Greenberg led to a finish by freshman defender Pastor Romero.
 
The Red Foxes recorded their first conference win in a game where they outshot Saint Peter's 16-6.

  • In the second minute, a shot by Grace DiVincenzo was blocked by a Saint Peter's defender.
  • Fifteen minutes later, sophomore midfielder Chance Hendricks got the first shot on goal for Marist, a save made by goalie Annabelle Adams.
  • A through-pass from Amanda Caldarelli led to a Dudziec shot on target, but Adams made a diving save.
  • In the 23rd minute, Skyler Owens fired the first shot on target for Saint Peters. Senior goalkeeper Natalie Kelchner crouched down to make her first save of the day.
  • With 17 minutes remaining in the half, senior forward Victoria Colatosti found space and ripped a shot that was saved by Adams.
  • In the 33rd minute, Dudziec fired a shot that was grabbed by Adams.
  • Junior forward Brooke Cergol found the ball in the box and had her shot blocked, but got it again and shot the second chance high with seven minutes remaining in the half.
  • With 2 minutes remaining in the half, Christina Layden ripped a shot that was saved by Adams.
 
second half
  • One minute into the half, Brooke Boutchie fired a shot at the crossbar following a free kick.
  • In the 61st minute, Dudziec kept the play alive on the end line, retreated into the box, and crossed it to Amanda Caldarelli by the left corner of the box. Caldarelli tucked the shot into the upper-right corner.
  • Two minutes later, Dudziec found Caldarelli again, with the sophomore scoring from just inside 20 yards out by the left post.
  • With 12 minutes remaining in the game, a Red Fox foul led to a free kick right outside the box for Saint Peter's. Madison Greenberg found Carlota Pastor Romero, who deflected it into the back of the net for the Peacocks cutting the lead to 2-1.
  • In the 80th minute, junior captain Samantha Sturno crossed it to freshman forward Grace Hennig, who volleyed a shot that was saved by Adams.
