NEW ROCHELLE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team fell short Thursday evening in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game against the Iona Gaels, 49-41. The Red Foxes overall record drops to 4-10 and 2-4 in conference play.
 

SUMMARY

• Iona quickly took a 6-0 lead and then fell into a 3:35 scoring drought as Marist capitalized with a 9-0 run to take the lead. The Red Foxes finished the quarter with the lead 19-12.
• Marist shot 7-for-11 (63.6%) from the field and 2-for-4 (50.0%) from the arc in the first quarter. Iona shot 5-for-14 (35.7%) from the field and 2-for-7 (28.6%) three-point field.
• In the second quarter, both teams committed a total of 15 turnovers, Marist (7) and Iona (8). The Red Foxes shot 16.7% from the field, Gaels shot 25.0% from the field. Both teams did not make a three-pointer in the second quarter (0-8).
• Iona outscored Marist in the third quarter, 10-6. The Red Foxes six points came from the free-throw line.
• In the final quarter, Marist fell into a scoring drought as Iona took the lead with a 15-3 run over six minutes leading Iona to the 49-41 victory.

• For the game, Marist shot 12-for-50 (24.0%) from the field and 4-for-17 (23.5%) from three.
• Iona shot 18-for-58 (31.0%) from the field and 6-for-25 (24.0%) from three.
• Marist was outrebounded by Iona 46-to-32.
