POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's basketball team fell short to the Fairfield Stags Sunday afternoon with a final score of 69-66. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference loss puts Marist overall record to 8-9 and 3-5 in MAAC play. This win puts Fairfield's overall record to 9-10 and 3-5 in conference play.
 

Summary

• Marist and Fairfield started the half battling for the lead, with five lead changing with 12 minutes remaining in the half.
• The Red Foxes would fall into a few scoring droughts allowing the Stags to go on a couple 8-0 runs to extend their lead with five minutes remaining in the half.
• To end the half, Marist went on a 6-0 run to cut Fairfield's lead to five, ending the half with a score of 36-31 the Stags lead.
• With 16:26 remaining in the second half, the Stags entered a 3:08 scoring drought, the Red Foxes took advantage with a 6-0 run to shorten the lead to a single point.
• Marist chipped away at the lead with Ricardo Wright's free-throws, 64-63, but a tough turnaround bucket by Fairfield's Cruz proved to be the difference as Fairfield would hold on to win, 69-66.

• In the first half, Fairfield shot 42 percent (14-for-30), Marist shot 21 percent (13-for-32).
• The Red Foxes had two players scoring in double digits, Ricardo Wright (19), Samkelo Cele (16).
• For the game, Marist and Fairfield both shot 43 percent,  the Stags collected one more field goal than the Red Foxes (27-26).
• Fairfield outrebounded Marist by one (35-34). Twenty-eight of the Stags rebounds were defensive.
• The Stags had three players in double digits, Jake Wojcik (17), Taj Benning (16) and Supreme Cook (13).
