Women's Basketball Earns Second Straight Conference Win Against Canisius

Red Foxes Even Conference Record to 4-4

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team collected a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory Monday night against Canisius, downing the Griffs 57-44. With the win, the Red Foxes improve their overall record to 6-10 and 4-4 in MAAC play. Canisius falls to 2-15 overall and 0-8 in conference play.

  • The Red Foxes started the game strong with an early 7-0 lead over the Golden Griffins.
  • A Canisius scoring drought allowed Marist to take advantage with a 9-0 run over 3:22 with two minutes remaining in the half.

  • For the game, Marist shot 22-for-55 (.400) from the field and 5-for-16 from three. Canisius shot 16-for-50 (.320) from the field and 9-for-28 (.321) from three.
  • Samantha Bailey bested her previous career-high of seven points, finishing the game with eight.
  • Anabel Ellison tied her career-high of eight points and also collected five rebounds and three assists.
  •  The Red Foxes had two players in double figures, Trinasia Kennedy (15), Zaria Shazer (14).
  • Marist outrebounded Canisius 41-33. Twenty-eight of the teams' rebounds were defensive and 13 were offensive.
  • Kennedy shot 6-of-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from three. Shazer shot 6-of-10 from the field.
  • The Golden Griffins had two players in double digits, Shaunae Brown (12), Dani Haskell (10).
