NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -Â The Marist men's and women's cross country teams each received 2021 All-Academic Team Honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
In total, 150 men's programs and 168 women's programs were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
Making up the 16 honored programs were eight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference institutions with both their men's and women's cross country teams each earning the distinction. The schools include Canisius College, Iona College, Manhattan College, Marist College, Monmouth University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, and Siena College.
Men's and women's cross country had successful fall outings at the Marist Season opener, Siena Invitational, Jasper Fall Invitational, Paul Short Run, Fall Foliage Invitational, MAAC Championships, NCAA Northeast Regionals, and IC4A Championships. On the women's side,
Hayley Collins was named to the All-MAAC team after an 11th placed finish at the MAAC Championships. The women's team had a conference-best 18 selections to the MAAC All-Academic Team, and the men earned 16 selections.
