Women’s Basketball Drops One at Manhattan

Red Foxes Fall to Jaspers In First Action Since December 20th

RIVERDALE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team fell Saturday afternoon to the Manhattan Jaspers, 72-45, at Draddy Gymnasium in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. With the loss, the Red Foxes move to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in MAAC play.

SUMMARY
  • Cold shooting doomed the Red Foxes in the first half, as Marist was held to .171 percent from the field (6-for-35) and didn't connect from three-point range (0-11) in the first two quarters.
  • Manhattan shot 11-for-38 (.289) from the field in the first half and 2-for-9 (.222) from deep to take a 26-14 lead into halftime.
  • The Red Foxes would turn it around on the offensive end in third quarter, scoring 20 points on 7-for-17 shooting (.412) but the Jaspers kept their own offensive momentum going, scoring 21 of their own on 8-for-15 (.533) shooting.
  • Manhattan would score the first 10 points of the fourth quarter, extend its lead, and hold on for the home victory.

  • Trinasia Kennedy paced the Red Foxes with 15 points, five rebounds and a steal.
  • Zaria Shazer was the only other Red Fox is double-digits with 13 points and eight rebounds.
  • Kendall Krick chipped in with five points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
  • For the game, Marist shot 18-for-65 (.277) from the field. Manhattan finished 29-for-68 from the field (.426).
  • The Jaspers controlled the rebounding battle 51-39 and had 14 turnovers to the Red Foxes' 18.
