POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team was defeated by St. Thomas, 38-24, in a Pioneer Football League game at Tenney Stadium on Saturday.
A Family Weekend crowd of 4,632 attended Saturday's game, marking the second-largest total in the 16-year history of Tenney Stadium.
St. Thomas jumped out to a 21-3 halftime lead, and although
Brock Bagozzi threw three touchdown passes in the second half, the Red Foxes were unable to erase their deficit.
- St. Thomas had a 460-324 advantage in total yards. The Tommies held the Red Foxes to 53 yards in the first half.
- St. Thomas had a 39:12-20:48 advantage in time of possession.
- St. Thomas was 8-for-17 on third down, and Marist was 4-for-13.
- The crowd of 4.632 trailed only Marist's Family Weekend crowd of 6,154 against Bryant last season on Sept. 25. It was 11 more than Marist's Stadium Dedication games against Duquesne on Oct. 6, 2007, and the fourth crowd of 4,000-plus in the 16 years of Tenney Stadium.
- This was the first time St. Thomas traveled to Poughkeepsie. The Red Foxes are now 0-2 against the Tommies all-time.
- Wright's 13 tackles tied a career high, and were the most by a Red Fox this season. He also had 13 against St. Thomas last season.
- Fields now has three games with at least 10 tackles this season, and four in his career.
- Dominic Donohue tied a career long with a 62-yard punt, which was down at the St. Thomas 1.
- Bagozzi's 65-yard touchdown pass to Lombana was the Red Foxes' longest play this season.
- St. Thomas is 3-1 this season and 1-0 in the PFL.
- Marist is 1-3 this season and 1-1 in the PFL.
- Marist will travel to Stetson on Saturday, Oct. 8.
