POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist volleyball team fell to MAAC opponent Canisius in four sets on Saturday at McCann Arena.. The Red Foxes fall to 11-9 on the season and 7-3 in MAAC play.
Marist battled back & forth with the Golden Griffins for control of the match. The Golden Griffins were able to prevail by scores of 25-23, 28-30, 25-19, 25-20.

- In set one the Red Foxes battled back & forth with the Golden Griffins for the lead; however, Canisius was able to score the final two points of the set to win by a score of 25-23.
- In set two the Red Foxes were able to get off at hot start, building an early 7-1 lead. Canisius fought back, and Marist was able to fend off two set points before prevailing by a score of 30-28.
- Marist built a 14-5 lead in set three, but an 8-0 Canisius run gave the Golden Griffins the lead for good as the won the set by a score of 25-19.
- Canisius jumped out to a 16-6 lead in set four and prevailed 25-20, as the Golden Griffins won the match 3-1.
- Morgan Owens set a career high with 32 digs. This total is tied for the sixth highest in a single match in program history.
- Sasha van der Merwe had a match-high 26 kills. Both van der Merwe (26 kills, 13 digs) and Jordan Newblatt (15 kills, 13 digs) registered double-doubles.
- McKinley Fox led both teams with 53 assists.
- The Red Foxes will back at home as they take on MAAC opponent Niagara at McCann Arena on Sunday, Oct. 16Â 2 p.m.
