LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Marist volleyball team took down Rider in five sets on Sunday at Rider, as the Red Foxes won their third straight.
Marist came back after dropping the first two sets. The Red Foxes prevailed by scores of 24-26, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-11.

- The Red Foxes were trailing 2-0 after going losing the first two sets of today's match.
- The Red Foxes battled back and forth with the Broncs in the third set but were able to gain momentum and win their first set of the day 25-22.
- In the fourth set the Red Foxes were able to get off to a 5-2Â lead. The Broncs and Red Foxes went back-and-forth, but the Red Foxes were able to pull out the 25-23 win in set four.
- The fifth set saw Sasha van der Merwe & Jordan Newblatt getting it done for the Red Foxes, as both had a pair of kills. Marist closed the match with three straight points to win the set 15-11 and take the match.
- Newblatt finished with a match-high 20 kills, followed by Owens with 19.Â
- It was a great all-around match for van der Merwe, who had a team-high 17 kills plus 14 digs and five blocks.
- Alyssa White hit .750. She finished with seven kills and five blocks.
- McKinley Fox led both teams in assists with 45.
- The Red Foxes will continue to be on the road as they travel to Hamden, Connecticut to take on Quinnipiac.
- The match will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
