Women's Basketball Hosts Lafayette Sunday Afternoon

Red Foxes Close Out November With a Non-Conference Matchup

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball team returns to McCann Arena for a non-conference game against Lafayette. Closing out the month of November, the Red Foxes take on the Leopards on Sunday, November 27 at 2 p.m.
 
 
Last Time Out
  • To close out the MAAC/ASUN Dublin Basketball Challenge, Marist women's basketball defeated North Florida by a score of 61-45. The Red Foxes had a strong first half to hold the advantage over North Florida in the non-conference matchup.
  • The Red Foxes started building their lead, pulling ahead 11-7. North Florida would cut the lead down to a point two times and tie the game at 13 apiece.
  • The Red Foxes offense took off, extending their lead 19-13 to end the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the Red Foxes would go on a 15-2 run lasting 7:25. North Florida committed nine turnovers during the Red Foxes scoring run.
  • To close out the first half, the Red Foxes took their largest lead in the half with 22 points, leading the Ospreys 39-17 heading into the third quarter. Marist held North Florida to just four points in the second quarter.
  • Scoreless in the first minute of the third quarter, Maeve Donnelly scored the first point of the second half from a free throw.
  • The Red Foxes defense was a key factor to the third and fourth quarter success. North Florida shot .111 from behind the arc and .278 percent from the field.
  • Kendall Krick led the Red Foxes with 19 points and five assists.
  • Junior Zaria Shazer tallied 16 points.
  • The Red Foxes shot .462 (24-of-52) from the field for the game.
  • Marist was 9-for-12 from the free throw line.
  • Marist improved to 2-3 on the season.
 
vs. Lafayette
  • The two teams met exactly almost a year ago, where the Leopards held the advantage over the Red Foxes, 53-50, on Dec. 1
  • Last matchup, Zaria Shazer recorded another double-double on the night, with 14 points and 19 rebounds.
  • Kiara Fisher (12 points) gave the Red Foxes three double-figure scorers.
  • The Leopards currently sit at 1-5 on the season, coming off a 71-54 loss against La Salle and a four-game losing streak.
  • Lafayette is led by Mikayla Andrews in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game
