POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Seattle Seahawks kicker Jason Myers, a 2013 graduate of Marist College, was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career on Wednesday night.
Â
This season, Myers has connected on 26 of 27 field goal attempts, with a long of 56, and 37 of 38 extra point tries. Myers ranks fifth in the NFL and first in the NFC with 115 points scored. He has also contributed 46 touchbacks on kickoffs this season.
Â
Myers was previously selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018 when he played for the New York Jets. Prior to that, the only time a Marist graduate was selected to play in a professional All-Star game was in 1998, when Rik Smits was chosen to play in the NBA All-Star Game.
Â
Myers is currently in his eighth season in the NFL, and fourth with the Seahawks. He signed a multiyear contract with Seattle in March of 2019 following his Pro Bowl season with the Jets the previous year. Myers kicked for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2015-17.
Â
Myers was a four-year member of the Marist football program from the 2009 through 2012 seasons. The native of Chula Vista, California was the team's primary kicker all four seasons, and added punting duties as a senior. He set a program record for longest field goal (49 yards) in 2011, which was tied by
Luke Paladino in 2019.
Â
The Pro Bowl will take on a new format this season. The NFL has re-named the event "The Pro Bowl Games," and it will now be a week-long celebration that includes player skills with the NFC vs. AFC format. It will culminate in a Flag football game at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023 that will air on ESPN and ABC.
