POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Junior Sasha van der Merwe was named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) East Coast All-Region Honorable Mention on Tuesday.

In the 2022 season, van der Merwe finished with 408 kills & 468 points as she led the Red Foxes in both categories, and she led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in both kills per set (3.96) and points per set (4.54). She was named First Team All-MAAC as the Red Foxes went 18-11 overall and 14-4 in conference play.

Student-athletes on the East Coast All-Region and Honorable Mention teams come from the following conferences in addition to the MAAC: ACC, Big East, America East, and NEC.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association awards come from the top 100 college coaches who vote on four all-region teams.
