Men’s Basketball Set to Host Canisius & Niagara

Red Foxes Face Golden Griffins Saturday, Purple Eagles Monday at McCann Arena

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team will face off against MAAC opponent Canisius on Saturday, Feb. 12. The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. Following that game, Marist stay home to host Niagara on Monday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
 
It will be the first time this season the Red Foxes will face both opponents.

vs. Canisius
  • Canisius holds the advantage in the all-time series against Marist, 34-20.
  • The teams split the season series in 2020-21, with both games taking place in Buffalo.
  • Marist won the second meeting against Canisius last year. The Red Foxes have not won back-to-back games against the Golden Griffins since the 2007-08 season.

  • Marist completed the season sweep of Monmouth with a decisive win by a score of 83-58.
  • The Red Foxes shot 30-55 (.545 percent) from the field and 10-22 (.454 percent) from three-point range. The Hawks shot 21-62 (.338 percent) from the field and 4-19 (.211 percent) from three.
  • Jao Ituka led all scorers in the game with 25 points on 9-for-14 (.643) shooting from the field and he went 7-for-9 (.778) from the line.
  • Ricardo Wright (20 points) and Noah Harris (13 points) also scored in double digits for Marist.
  • It was Marist's largest margin of victory in a MAAC road game in 15 years.

  • Jao Ituka (14.8 ppg) and Ricardo Wright (14.3) rank sixth and ninth in the MAAC in scoring, respectively. Monmouth is the only other MAAC school to have multiple players in the top 10.
  • Marist is 6-2 this season when hitting nine or more three-pointers, and is 3-11 when hitting eight or less.
  • Marist is 6-2 when scoring at least 75 points this season, and 3-11 when scoring less than 75.
  • Marist has held seven opponents under 40 percent shooting from the field (5-2 record in those games), and three under 30 percent (3-0).
