POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's tennis team defeated Fordham 4-3 Sunday night in a non-conference match held at Cross Court in Wappingers Falls.  It was the team's first win of the 2022 spring season.   
 

DOUBLES

• Marist won the doubles point against Fordham.
• In the first position, Dylan Friedman and Christian Mills collected the win by a score of 6-4.
• Fordham would tie up the score by with defeating Gabriel Castillo-Sanchez and Augusto Gonzalez-Bonorino.
• The Red Foxes secured the doubles point with a win in the third position by Jack Sequerth and Carlos Vasquez.

SINGLES

• The Red Foxes collected wins in the first, second and third position in singles.
• In the fifth position, Sequerth was defeated by a score of, 6-1, 6-0.
• Castillo-Sanchez won in the second position against Fordham's Juan Paredes.
• Friedman defeated Fordham in the first position,6-4 , 6-2.
• Fordham defeated Marist's Gonzalez-Bonorino in the fourth position and Carlos Vasquez in the sixth position.
• To secure the win for the Red Foxes, Christian Mills won in the third position against Fordham by a score of, 7-5 , 6-3.

"This was a great team effort," said Director of Tennis Gary Sussman."  "The critical point of the match was at third doubles, when Jack Sequerth and Carlos Vasquez won in a tiebreaker, which gave us a 1-0 lead and paved the way for the victory.  Dylan and Christian won their first matches of the season at #1 and #3 singles respectively, and Gabe continued his stellar play at #2 with his third win of the campaign.
