Marist Men’s Basketball Prevails on Senior Night

Red Foxes Win Sixth Straight, Down Manhattan By 18

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's basketball team won its sixth straight game on Friday night. The Red Foxes defeated Manhattan, 74-56, before a raucous crowd of 2,566 at McCann Arena on Senior Night.
 
Summary
  • The Red Foxes trailed 3-2 early, but went on an 8-0 run thanks to four straight dunks – two by Braden Bell, one by Victor Enoh, and one by Ricardo Wright.
  • A 13-0 run, which included five points from Raheim Sullivan extended the Red Foxes' lead to 29-11 at the 6:35 mark.
  • Manhattan countered with a 10-3 spurt, but the Red Foxes scored the final four points of the first half, and led 38-23 after the first 20 minutes.
  • Manhattan started the second half on an 8-0 run. The Jaspers outscored the Red Foxes 24-12 over the first 12:11 of the second half, and cut Marist's lead to three.
  • From that point to the end of the game, Marist outscored Manhattan 24-8 and held the Jaspers without a field goal.

  • Marist held Manhattan to .288 (15-for-52) shooting from the field and an .083 (2-for-24) mark from three-point range. The Red Foxes held Jose Perez, the MAAC's leading scorer to 3-for-16 shooting from the field and an 0-for-7 mark from three-point range. Perez, who went 8-for-8 from the line, ended with 14 points.
  • Marist had four double-digit scorers: Sullivan (15), Jao Ituka (15), Jordan Jones (11), and Wright (10).
  • Jones and Samkelo Cele paced the Red Foxes with six rebounds apiece.
  • Ant Nelson led Manhattan with 15 points.

  • Marist's six-game winning streak is its longest since the 2006-07, when the Red Foxes won nine in a row.
  • Marist has now held four opponents under 30 percent from the field this season, and has won all four games.
